George Lucas aka Commander Jorg Sacul Action Figure

This George Lucas, I mean Jorg Sacul, action figure is one of the few I keep on the card, this was a Celebration II exclusive figure, have a read at the spiel on the back, cheesy but cool all the same.

Jabba the Hutt Action Figure

Finally parted with the cash to get the Jabba the Hutt figure, complete with Salacious Crumb and Oola the dancing girl. I took the opportunity to go back and re-shoot some of my older figures now that I have Jabba and enlisted my girlfriend Shannen to take the actual photographs while I did the composition.

After watching Return of the Jedi together this morning for inspiration we settled on a handful of shots and scenes from the movie we wanted to recreate.

Invasion Belfast IV - Saturday 01 October 2011 - 02 October 2011

Ireland’s premier Star Wars costuming club, The Emerald Garrison, returns to W5 with Invasion Belfast IV for a mega weekend of fantastic photo opportunities. With over 40 iconic costumed characters including a legion of Storm Troopers, Darth Vader, Darth Maul, Jedi Knights, Bounty Hunters, Clonetroopers and even Wookies you will be spoilt for choice as to where to point your camera as they battle for your attention.

The enormously popular Force Training with Emerald Garrison’s very own Jedi Knight instructors is back with places bookable on the day for wannabe Padawans - Sorry Dads this one is just for the kids!

The Cloned Props and Replicas exhibition this year features the huge Clone Wars ‘Republic Fighter Tank’! During Invasion weekend visitors can get their photograph taken as they man the guns of this amazing life-size prop!

This is also a great opportunity to pick up that collectible or toy you've been looking for at one of our traders stands.

Fans also have the chance to meet actors from the original movies during signings and lecture theatre talks.

We welcome back Jeremy Bulloch who played Boba Fett in The Empire Strikes Back & Return of the Jedi. Femi Taylor also joins us this year, Femi played Jabba the Hutt’s Twi’lek slave dancer Oola in Return of the Jedi. Please note that the actors charge a fee for photographs and autographs.

Follow Invasion Belfast on Facebook for more details.

Clone Commander Keller Action figure

One of the many Clone Troopers from the Dark Horse comics but with a pretty unique and bad-ass looking helmet.

Moff Tiaan Jerjerrod Action Figure

Moff Jerjerrod was tasked with over seeing the construction of the second Death Star, probably not the best day of your career to have Vader show up and inform you the Emperor's on his way.

2011 Star Wars The Complete Saga on Blu-ray

It's been out for a few days now hence no blog posts as I've been busy watching away, if you're still on the fence about picking this up don't be as the films look incredible on blu-ray.

This completes my feature on different Star Wars formats, look for a return to regular action figure photography in a couple of days.

2005 Revenge of the Sith DVD

The additional sleeve on this DVD, seen on the left in the above image, was another preorder exclusive.

2004 Original Trilogy DVD Boxset

No surprise that these are by far the most watched DVDs I own, the gold packaging was a preorder exclusive and normally this boxset was silver.

If you've never seen the features on this bonus disc I highly recommend getting your hands on a copy, it includes 'Empire of Dreams' a three hour documentary that covers the making of all three original trilogy movies that unfortunately doesn't appear to be coming on the Blu Ray set.

2002 Attack of the Clones DVD

By the time this DVD came out I was enough into Star Wars to buy it on day of release, I have really fond memories of the three years between AOTC and ROTS even if I did nearly go out of my mind speculating about how it was all going to end.

Friday 9 September 2011

1999 The Phantom Menace DVD

The first time I actually owned any of the Star Wars movies was this DVD, I only got it after AOTC came out in cinemas and after a couple of weeks of constantly hassling my parents to take me back to the cinema to see it again they bought me this instead, I guess they really didn't want to sit through AOTC again, the fools.

1997 Special Edition VHS Boxset

This was how I first saw Star Wars, I was 12 and my school library had this boxset.

1997 A New Hope Special Edition on Laser Disc

I've never owned a laser disc player and only recently acquired this as something I thought would make a nice collectable, I sort of equate it to having your favourite album on vinyl.

1995 Original Trilogy VHS Boxset

This is the oldest copy of the original trilogy in my collection and it's also the last time the original unaltered films were released on VHS and while I make no secret that I prefer to watch the special editions they are still nice have on my shelf.

Ysanne Isard Action Figure

Ysanne Isard, during the time of the Emperor she was Director of Imperial Intelligence, but after the fall of Palpatine she managed to take charge of the remaining Imperial Forces.

Isard stands out from other Imperial Officers thanks to her all red uniform and her odd eye colours as seen above. Isard was the main antagonist in the Rogue Squadron X-wing novels and comic books written by Michael Stackpole.

'Purchase of the Droids' Action Figures

Some of the oldest figures in my collection, this battlepack is from the Power of the Force series in the 90's and is based on the droid purchase scene in ANH. I like the Uncle Owen and C-3PO figures but the Luke Skywalker is one of the ugliest sculpts I've seen.

One really cool thing about this battlepack is the way the packaging transforms into a display, most battle packs that have packaging like this are totally cardboard, however this pack comes with a plastic base as seen above and much higher quality cardboard backing than comes with modern battlepacks.

VIDEO: Action Figure Collection Setup 2011

Finally back and able to post again, keep an eye here for several new posts in the coming days but for now enjoy my latest video attempt, similar to last years time-lapse this shows the setup of my action figures in my new apartment however rather than simply speeding up the video footage as last year, a new photograph was taken every time an action figure was added to the display then I strung them all together in this video with five photographs each second.
